Right crank seal pops out, GS1000G
My 1980 GS1000G was found to be leaking oil from the right crank, behind the ignition advance unit. When it came time to replace the seal, I had found it had actually popped out! I replaced the seal with a new genuine Suzuki seal & made it as far as another 20 miles before it popped out again! I checked the crankcase breather & no obstructions were found. This spring I freshened up the top end with new rings, the ring end gap was checked on all cylinders and were all well within spec and the cylinders were deglazed prior to reassembly. Straight Castrol 10w40 mineral oil was used for break in. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this problem? -
Possibly end wobble with the crank. Does the engine have an unusual vibration?
Try a light coating of Yamabond when pushing in the new seal.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

Even if it's in the wrong way around, it should still stay in place just fine.

My seal popped out too. It wasn't a wobbly crankshaft or crankcase pressure. When I put the new one in I applied JB bond around the outer circumference of the seal and had no leaks or problems since. Ted
