Simple question about valve adjustment
I own a GSX 750 ES -16 valve,I just wonder if i need to adjust the valves ,Engine is quiet and had no rassle in the valve cover.I have a new valvecover gasket incl the halfmoons. How often do you guys check the

No noise is bad; the valves sink into the head and the clearance reduces with mileage. Regarding how often to check, I recommend following the Suzuki service manual.Ed

If you don't know when or if it's been done, then yes, you should do one. There's a nice tutorial on Cliff's site.
I've only ever done one on my bike. If I remember right, it should be done every 2500-3000 miles for the 16v engines. Which reminds me, it's about time for one on my bike......Larry D

According to Mr Suzuki you need to check those valve clearances every 6000km. If you've only just acquired the bike play safe and assume they haven't been done. If the clearances disappear you'll end up burning the valves and / or valve seats away and it'll be a big job. A (moderately) noisy top end is usually a healthy sign on thes bike - you definitely don't want 'too quiet'.
It's a dead easy job to do on the 16 valve heads - roughly an hour though you might like to add a fair amount of time if your cam cover gasket is old and needs to be removed in tiny little pieces (becomes a PITA if this is the case).79 GS1000S

Zook quote 4000 miles or 6000km for both the 8 and 16 valve bikes.
They should also say 'assume the PO didn't have a clue and was tight so do it the first day you get the bike'79 GS1000S

I think the last time I did the valves on my son's 850, it took all of 45 minutes.

If the machine is new to you, open it up and take a look no matter what. Just done my 850 for the first time and -ye gads- 7 out of the 8 shims in there turned out to be the wrong diameter
Even though you won't be worried about shim diameter, get in there, measure them and adjust them if they need it. Then you'll know.It's smoke that make electronic components work.
Every time I've let the smoke out by mistake, they never work again.
