    Model from 12 digit VIN

Is there any way to determine my 1980 model GS from a 12 digit vin ?

I know it is an 1100, but don't know what differentiates it from a E, ET, etc.

    any help would be appreciated.

I need to order fuel petcock and front shock seals and want to make sure I am getting the right parts.

    Thanks,

    Mike

BTW - my vin is in this format GS110X123456

    Posting pictures works well.

If it has the square headlight, it's an E.

Because it's an '80 it will also have the T suffix, making it an ET.

EDIT: I just looked at the picture you posted in your first post. It's an E ... er ...

        lol....
        ET..

        Okay,

Sort of to the topic on the VIN.

The one thing that I found on another model, the 85' GS700EF, is that there was a California model as well. I'm sure there were a few more models like this, but not familiar with them enough.

Being a Cali model did not show up in the VIN number. Given the side panel showed the emisson diagram, I was gifted with the Cali verison.

        Smaller tank capacity..

        But, anyways...

This was after I had ordered the new gas cap, which the two, the Cali version and standard are different.

Ordered the Cali cap, fits with no problem. At this point in time with all the part swapping on vintage machines, not sure what one should do really.

        Post a pic, I suppose.
