Should my bike be hard to push in 1st gear?

My bike is a lot harder to push when I am in 1st gear (and holding the clutch lever all the way to the grip) than it is when in neutral.

I assume this is not good.

Is this something I should be able to adjust out?

The clutch is less than a year old, Barnett, though the PO said he took the Barnett springs out - and put the old ones back - because he said he was not strong enough to pull the level back. The cable should probably be replaced,

    Thanks for any advice!

Your Barnett clutch will drag now, tommorrow and 20 years from now.

That's just how they are, mine's been like that since 1986

Can you find neutral when you're riding?

            Yes neutral is OK

Yes, I can find neutral just fine, tapping down through the gears while riding, thanks.

warm the bike up, put it on the centrestand, engage the first gear, hold the clutch lever in - and see if the rear wheel rotates.
                it shouldn't!

Yours is better than mine. I have to go about 20 miles before finessing it into neutral.

I may go 50/50 Barnett/Suzuki to see if it improves

Did you put in the Barnett springs? How's the left hand?
