    GS450L Regulator/Rectifier Quick Question

I need to get a new R/R for my bike. My bike is a 1986 GS450L. There are a few for sale on ebay but it says that they are for an 82-85 year model. Is there any difference? Any other suggestions on replacing the R/R other then stator papers?

    Thanks A Lot

    Hi,

They will be functionally the same (5-wire? 6-wire?). I'm sure they'll work, if the part is good. If you check with our resident r/r supplier on the forum (his name is duaneage) he may have one that fits your bike, has been tested and modified to be a "bolt on" replacement part. Just send him a PM. Mr. duaneage is good people.

When reconnecting your r/r, be sure there are clean connections, especially the ground wire. Some of us run the ground wire directly to the negative terminal of the battery to improve the efficiency of the r/r. This is because the grounding path back through the chassis and wiring harness could be corroded causing extra resistance, heat, over or under charging, and death to your stator or other components. Check my website for information I've collected.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

I'll second that nomination to contact Duaneage. I have gotten more than one from him (for multiple bikes, of course).

Thanks Guys, I sent Duaneage a PM and am just waiting for his response. We'll see what we can do.
