'79 GS1000: 2nd Fuse Box
I've been going through the electrical system on my 79 GS1000 and after installing a new R/R I'm having trouble figuring out the starter relay wiring. There seams to be an additional fuse box, that is not in the wiring diagram that I have... I took disconnected most of the wires to disassemble everything but I left one red wire going from one side of the fuse to the starter relay. This is what is confusing me, b/c the wiring diagram shows two wires from the pos battery terminal. One goes directly to the starter relay while the other goes to the main fuse box (w/ 4 glass fuses). What is this second fuse box for? Does anyone have images of how it is wired? Thanks for any help you can give me.

That is your AUXiliary fuse box.
That allows you to hook up your iPod, GPS, CB radio, XM satellite radio, heated clothing, etc.
Of course, you will also need to connect your Battery Tender to it, too.
It is not switched with the ignition key, so be careful what you do connect to it.

You have 5 fuses in the box? From top to bottom they are:
Lights - powers headlight, tail light, instrument lights (10 amp)
Signals - powers turn signals, horn, brake lights (10 amp)
Ignition - powers coils and ignitor (10 amp)
Main - powers ... well ... everything (15 amp)
AUX - powers the terminals at the end of the fuse box (5 or 10 amp)
Red wire on the starter relay? Which one? There should be TWO.
One goes straight to the battery + terminal, the other goes straight to the starter.
The third wire at the starter solenoid (relay) comes from the button on the handlebar and is considerably smaller.

According to Clymers wiring diagram, one red wire goes to the "auxilary fuse box"...but you are correct in that I have 5 fuses in my main fuse box.
