For those kinds of screws, kind of hidden in the plastic "cutout" like that, I'd try one of them Craftsmen stripped screw extractors. They make several different kinds, but there's one where you don't have to drill a hole first - just use the bit in a reversible drill.Frosty (falsely accused of "Thread-Hijacking"!)

I know, old Bob Vila can sure make some of them repairs seem awfully easy, whereas we "nonprofessionals" sometimes have to struggle with our Craftsman tools.
But the main thing is that it worked for you. Glad to hear that!Frosty (falsely accused of "Thread-Hijacking"!)

vice grips work for me
Glad to hear that you got the screw out. I had the same problem (several times) and simply used a pair of Vice Grips to seize the screw and turn it out.

Here's another tip for you guys....in case this ever happens to you again. My fix is with my Dremel. Just cut a standard screwdriver slot in the head of the screw and, "Voila!" Works for me every time.
