Hey,
After changing a flat on my rear wheel, I was putting the wheel back on the bike and adjusting the chain tension. I noticed that as the rear wheel spun, every few revolutions the chain would pop up slightly off the rear sprocket. Does this mean it's time for a new chain? Or is there some other problem I'm not seeing? The bike is a 1980 GS550L with about 16K miles. I believe the chain is the originial, but I bought it recently from someone else, so I'm not totally sure. Thanks.

I managed to get my back tire out of alignment. The end result is that the front sprocket hits the edge of the chain rather than meshing with it. It could also be a lack of oiling in your case.
