    Sub-Model

I bought a 78' GS550 from someone and I am wondering how you find out what sub-model you have (i.e GS550EC, GS550T etc.) Any info would be GREAT in my journey to repair and maintenance! Thanks in advance!

        Hi,

The link to the GS Resources Homepage is here:

It's also at the bottom of this page you are reading.

The link to the model chart on The GS Resources Homepage is here:

It's found in the left margin of The GS Resources Homepage.

There are other informational links in the "mega-welcome". Read it, learn it, love it.

        Thank you for your indulgence,

Pictures are always a big help. There are instructions on BassCliff's site that show how to post pictures.

OK, here is an excerpt from Suzukicycles.org.

The second version of the GS550 for 1978 was available in two versions, with a single brake disc at the front, as in 1977, or with twin discs for better braking performance (compare the pictures below). The model was released in Japan in April 1978.

In August 1978 the GS500E was launched, replacing the GS550. The model had light alloy wheels and a disc brake even at the rear. Apart from the wheels and the brakes, the models were quite similar.

Apparently you have a 550E. Because it's a '78 model, it will also have a C at the end, making the full designation GS550EC.

Actually, it looks like a cross between the two models
