    Starter motor problem.

    Hi All:
My bike is a SUZUKI GS 450 ´81, I press the starter button and the starter motor don´t run, (a sound as click). I removed it and out of the engine unit run perfectly..! Why..?

    Thank you..! Amigos!

    Hi Mr. carlos020465,

    The solenoid could be bad.

Be sure that all of the connections are good and clean.

Maybe the starter needs some repair. Usually all you have to do is clean the armature and replace the brushes.

Check the "Electrical Odds and Ends" page on my website for more suggestions about starting trouble.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

While it's out clean the armature with some emery cloth and grease the bushings. Also check the brushes to see if they are worn to the point where they bind.

Then when you replace the starter, if it still doesn't turn check to see if you have voltage to it when the started button is pushed. If not check the relay.
