Hey, i was thinking it is about time to replace the fuel lines on my bike (about 28 years now) and was just wondering where i can pick up the hoses? and if anyone has any detailed instructions (pictures) on how to replace it. Thanks. Also where can i get a shimm tool to take the shimms out.

Hi,
OEM hoses work the best, but it's not your only option. A list of online vendors can be found in the mega-welcome. Or you can have your local bike shop order them. I put regular automotive fuel line (5/16") on my bike and it's working fine. I got new vacuum line from the local ACE Hardware (7/32" if I remember correctly).
Note: You'll have to take off your gas tank.
1. Remove old hoses from between petcock and carbs.
2. Replace new hoses in the same place.

Poppa, dude, two words: Search Function! Both of these topics come up ALL – THE – TIME. Bottom line: there are various options for fuel tubing including both aftermarket and OE, and that tool is available at LOTS of different retailers or you can use wire ties as a substitute. The search function tells all.Ed

Gutter spike
Several months ago, I reported (for the second time) a very slick way to change the fuel line without removing the carbs. I ain't writing it up again but if you search, ye shall find.
Hint: For searching purposes...it involves a gutter spike.

Hi,
When I replaced my fuel line with regular automotive line, because the line was thicker, I was able to push/twist it onto the carb's fuel port (between #2 and #3) without too much difficulty. I just had to take the tank off. You might want to leave the hose a little longer than you need and trim it to fit onto the petcock properly once you get the tank back on.
