bouncy guages
My bike has bouncy gauges. What I mean by this is that they rarely ever sit in one spot; they fluctuate back and forth around what the real reading is. I can guestimate what the reading is supposed to be by taking the average of the high and low of where the needle hits but this is just annoying and I would like to fix it. have any of you ever dealt with this problem before?Tags: None

Hi,
1. Use Search Feature.
2. Make sure the cables are well lubed and properly connected.
3. Remove your gauges from the fork.
4.Turn them upside down.
5. Spray a few squirts of your favorite silicone lubricant, household oil, or WD40 into the cable inlets.
6. Reassemble.
Thank you for your induglence,
BassCliff

mine did that and i found out the area where the cables went into the gauges at was rounded out. i got a nice newer set (gauges) off ebay and they been working great ever since. my tach gauge was cracked anyways so it served a dual purpose by replacing them.

Similar to what BassCliff says.
I have found the speedo and the tack to bounce around when the cable needed to be lubed (or is about to break). Kinda like the cable would bind up a little, then break loose, spin ahead while unwinding, and then start to bind up again, not really stopping, just that its rotation isnt a constant speed. Easyest thing is to squirt some lube down the inside of the cable. Better would be to pull out the cable, clean it up, lube/grease it and put back together. I think I remember that can pull the cable out one way or the other.
Tell us more what you find.
