    nooby needs advice

    Hello people , new to the site and need some help . i bought a non running gsx1100 to play with , got it running but not too well . Its hard to start , won't idle , runs to about 2000 rpm then when i open the throttle wide it dies and backfires . It will keep running if i back off but if i hold it open it'll stop.Fuel ? , ignition ? . Any clues ? Thanks . goff .

        Are you trying to run it without the airbox?
        That's about how they run without the airbox unless serious jetting changes are done.

          hey , thanks for the tips and the welcome . i think i'll start from scratch , check the valve clearencence's and work my way back through the carbs etc. thanks again . goff
