    rings!

compression is all out of whack on the 77 750 and this winter i am gonna do a good ole hone and rings combo dealy. Any suggestions on where to get rings or just go to z1 or whatever.

I got all the rings and what not for my 650 build last year from crotchrocket.com , they sell OE suzuki parts... I would go with OE always when you can.

hey bribird, when doing a ring job or such, do the pistons warb like in a car? i have a 79 750l; will i have to go up a size and have it bored out? thanks, bill.

Are you sure it really needs rings?
        100,000 plus miles or something?

no. 50,000 mi. just wanted to know for future reference. my compression is 120 on every cyl. should be good for a while, but chance favors the prepared mind.

That's pretty darned good for 50,000 miles. Run it another 50.

my bike doesn't have 20k on it almost that, the PO treated it real bad from what i heard and tourched the motor, my compression across the board is not right and it blows a bit of smoke i'm pretty sure i need rings and a hone

Is all compression uniformly low of just two cyls?

                      You may have burnt valves.

this could be true, i don't think i'm gonna pull it apart anymore. It runs fine, just has bad compression, starts fine, still has a zone at high rpms. Tryin to save my dough for another bike. For now just gonna keep riding it.

If it has 120 psi I would just ride it. If you want to upgrade consider putting an 850 top end on it

i was wondering about that will a 850 jugs, pistons fit my head, and rods ect... i have the 83ed model i want more compression cheap i cant afford 500 just for pistons, i want a newer bike as well
i want this one but its a money pit

my bike has 99-120,last i chked, i had soaked it with oil cause it sat for 8 yrs sompression its suppose to have 189, 125 minimal for best performance, by the factory manual guys, because of the cv carbs im sure
mine has 29k on it but it has a rattle slight, so i think the bore is wore out, or the pistons are kissin a valve from weak springs, not sure which

If yours is an 83 it has 16 valves & the 850 is an 8 valver & WON'T interchange. Ray.
