    Torques

Does anybody know what the torques are for the cylinder head cover bolts on a 1982 GS300L D model or Z model?
Don't want to make the treads bear in my engine block

    They are usually about 6 to 7.5 ft-lbs. or 72 to 90 inch-pounds.

If you don't have a torque wrench, that's two oily fingers on a 1/4" ratchet.

Unless you have a high quality inch pound torque wrench, go by feel. Even with a good wrench you don't know what gorilla bolted the cover on last time, the threads may be almost stripped already. Get the best fitting wrench you have, pay very close attention to how the bolts feel, very gradually snug them up.
Something like a 1/4 turn after finger tight is really all it needs.
