Oil Cooler GSX1100s
Hi Fellas im new on the forum So a big Hello from Australia. I have just aquired a 1984 gsx1100S katana maroon and silver not sure what model it is. I am restoring it from the ground up. I have been having trouble over here in aussie getting parts but am slowly finding them in the U.S and U.K. I want to fit an oil cooler on the bike. I have seen lots of photos of them with the hoses running around the side of motor. which i think looks ugly. and i have seen a couple of pictures with the hoses running down the front of the frame to the oil filter cover. which i prefer. i did see a while ago on ebay some one was selling an oil cooler kit with a new oil filter cover with two extra holes for the cooler in Germany but buy the time i translated it the auction finnished . Can any one tell me whats involved fitting oil cooler to oil filter cover and what brand and where to buy a good oil cooler preferably with a thermostate any help will be appreciated Cheers BillyTags: None

Welcome! The cooler installation is pretty straightforward for your bike.....on either side of the filter cover, you will find an inlet/outlet provided to hook up the oil lines via banjo bolts. You will need an 1150 oil filter cover to replace your 1100 item.....this serves to divert/route the oil through the cooler. I'm using a GS 1150 cooler (no thermostat) with good results. Use the search function to bring up a lot of info, as this mod is covered fairly often.....some helpful pics etc.
