"OT-Suzuki GT750"
Ok i started working on the 74 suzuki gt750 bike and there is a problem i don't know how bad... Well the back will is froze or something i unhooked the back break & it's still wont turn... and another thing is i can kick start the bike over in neutral but when i kick it over in gear it won't kick over it's like it's locked up even when i hold the clutch in.... the back wheel does not turn if the transmission is in neutral.. so if anybody that has any idea's i would appreciate it.... I think i know why they sold it for $250.00 :-) thank youTags: None

If the bike has been sitting for a long period of time several things (engine, clutch, transmission, rear wheel) could be rusted in place. I would first see if you can turn the engine over by hand. Remove the right cover plate, put a wrench on the crank and see if you can turn it. If it won't turn, remove the spark plugs and put some penetrating oil such as PB blaster or marvel mystery oil and let it sit for a while.
Your clutch basket may be stuck together. You should remove the cover, work the clutch lever and see if the parts are moving.
Your rear wheel bearing could be rusted or the axle is rusted in the bearings. Will the back wheel roll at all? Try disconnecting the chain and see if the wheel will move. If the rear wheel has drum brakes the shoes could be seized inside the wheel.
What ever you do don't force anything.

Are the rear brakes locked up? In any case, you just bought a 35 year old motorcycle and it surely is going to need a complete going though before it's safe to run on the road.Ed

Back in the day, bikes wouldn't start unless they were in neutral. This is before clutch lock outs. If you tried to start the bike in gear with the clutch lever pulled in the only part that turned was the clutch. It was disconnected from the engine. Does this make sense the way I explained it? Iremember my Triumph being like that.
