Thanks, I bought a set of GS1100 carbs for parts & it had those in it. I guess thats what they are, they are twice the size of the factory jets. Doesnt that seem awful rich or am I too used to high altitude jetting ?

That's about the right size for pods & a 4 into 1 at lower elevations. Ray.

150 DJ/140.5 mains on a STOCK GS1100E are still too big... DJ 138 is what most people end up running with a STOCK motor, pods and 4into1. Thats a Mikuni 130 main if you do the conversion. I pulled Mikuni 135s OUT of my bike because it was running too rich on the main, and the 82 1100E that im working on i pulled Mikuni 137.5s out of, with a 47.5 pilot, and the plugs were blacker than a gorilla's arse with soot. Now, if those carbs came from a GS1100G, its possible they need that large of a main. The 8v motors used larger jets from the factory because the heads were not as efficient and didnt flow as well as the 16v's and thus used more gas. The best thing to do, BEFORE you do anything is to check the sizes of all the other jets and compare them both to the stock 1100E sizes, and the 1100G (or 1000E/G) sizes. This will tell you more than likely which those came off of. The bodies will be the same, however the air correctors, main air jets, needle jets, and pilots will be different. The STOCK needles might be different numbers too. I also believe that the adjustment screws between the two were different, but im not sure if that really has any effect.

My stock 80 GS1100E with nothing but a K&N box filter , modified air box {holes drilled and no top}and a Vance & Hines pipe had 114 factory mains & 45 pilots when I first got it and ran good.. The carbs that had the 150s also had 45 pilots. Thansk for the help

              As a benchmark comparision:

Before my 1166 kit I had:

              Stock block
              Stock head
              0.340 Webcams
              1150 36mm CV's
              Pods
Yoshi (large downtube tube) 4:1 race pipe

And the bike ran very well on DJ 137.5 setup expertly by Chef.

After my 1166 Kit I had

              +3mm 1166 Kit
94 cfm head at 0.350 lift (custom ported with 1150 valve)
same cams, same pods, header and carbs

The bike ( like Bill's) is perfectly tuned with Mikuni 147.5 equiv to DG157
