intake boot orings

intake boot orings
i have a set on order for my 84 550,but my 77 550 which is my daily driver has a bald tire. my current orings are not broke, but i had a small air leak between the boots and the heads, so i ordered new ones. can i use a little rtv gasket maker with my old orings to get me by a couple days till my new orings get here? i know this is not the correct way but my tire is getting badTags: None

TPO had done that on one of my bikes & it was working fine. Any sort of silicon sealer should work. As long as there are no air leaks it will be ok.
Was a PITA to clean off though!

The silicone will break down pretty quickly (heat + gasoline vapor), but keep spackling it on there as long as you need to.
I did the same for a couple of months back in college.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

thanks guys, actually found some orings that will work till mine get here, didnt even need gasket maker.
