Need newbie tips for gs owner

Well I'm still learning new things. I was wondering if there are some tips I should know about? So far I have cleaned the carbs out. I readjusted the slides since they were not all aligned causing a high idle. I had to readjust the floats which I figured out from some searching. The petcock need to be rebuilt since sometimes it leaks. I've noticed today it doesnt leak, but yesterday it was. I need to get new o-rings still. Where can I get pilot screws? I noticed the tip was broke on one, but it's stuck in the spring and is about right height. Whats a good way to sync the carbs without buying a manometer. I seen a carb sync thing on ebay for under $30 that looks like you slide it over the intake. What tire pressure should I have? Is there a conversion for dual rotors up front? Can I get another trip reset screw (I lost mine). How long does that heavy chain last? What should I be getting for mileage? Today I checked and got 44.5mpg.

Second tip....you should clean and dip and rebuild the carbs following this tutorial..

Next, buy a new petcock. The rebuilds are hit and miss. Get a new one and don't worry about it for twenty more years.

What you're calling pilot screws are idle air adjustment screws. They controls the mixture of air and fuel at idle. Try here..

You cannot sync carbs without some type of manometer. There are threads about homemade ones. Do a search.

Your maximum tire pressure is on the sidewall of the tire itself.

Dual disc, chain wear and mileage are search items too. Your mileage sounds good though. There is a conversion to a 530 chain/sprockets that alot here have done.

The trip meter knob can be purchased from any Suzuki dealer. As long as it's not discontinued....

Larry has the right idea but wrong tutorial, the early 750 has VM carbs so use these instructions... http://www.thegsresources.com/files/vm_carb_rebuild.pdf

To get the pilot fuel screw the only way I know is to purchase a rebuild kit... http://z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=487

As for syncing your carbs, look for a fellow GSR member in your area with the proper tool. There are also some low cost sync gauge tutorials around so you might want to try a search to see if one of these will work for you.

          Good luck,
