I could be WAY off here, but my first guess is $800 to $1000. The issue may be that it is a 300; unless of course you find a buyer that wants that size engine.

I just read a post by Rapidray who said he knows of a friends bike that is an 1100E that he did work on that is selling for $1500. Again, that is a sought after bike.

Displacement does count for a lot of the value in a motorcycle. That being said it's true the 300L is a fairly rare bike and yours appears to be in very good to excellent condition. The trick is to find someone that owned a 300L at one time and wants to go down memory lane. As a learning bike it's perfect but 2 up is out of the question for more than a casual ride. Parts are a little hard to find for the 300L and that makes ownership a challenge.

I didn't know any GS bikes had drum brakes on the front, that's unusual. I assume it is a 4V per cylinder engine too

I would ask 1100 for it and accept a reasonable offer of what you have into it plus a little elbow grease. If you are looking for a profit on a motorcycle remember the dividends are paid riding it and not by selling the bike. While it's true a 1100 can be had for 1500 remember there are plenty of 1100s out there and most are modified, many are abused, and all bikes cost money to fix up. Big bikes eat tires, brakes, chains and money.

Yours appears to be needing a seat and a little rust removal and it's done. I've restored a 400 Yamaha for an economical run around bike with no regard for it's selling price. I just happen to like the bike.

I have someone coming to look at it tomorrow.

If any of you gsers are in oregon or will pay for it shipped then you guys can have it for the right price, just give me an offer.

Reason i am selling is school starts tomorrow ( i am in high school) and i won't be able to ride this thing much. And i don't want it sitting because it may not start again.

Thanks again for your input, and any other commens are helpful. I know there are a couple of gs 300L owners/ past owners on here. (kittentooth), how much did your 300 sell for?

Being a 300 it's not worth much. I'd say in the range of $750 to the right buyer but I doubt more.

Sit on it or lose a bunch on it. It's a buyer's market.

But if you are going to sell it, put a new seatcover on it, the rest of the bike looks nice but that cries out neglect.

I agree. A set cover can be had for less than $100 and will pay for itself come selling time.

With a clean ownership in hand and a new seat cover i would ask for a grand and take $800.00.
Measure the seat height and make sure to mention it in the ad. 28"? 30"?
Getting both feet on the ground is important on starter bikes.
