Shaft to chain conversion? for 1984 GS1100GK engine/gearbox

Here's the deal, I found a 1984 GS1100GK with no seat, tank, wiring harness, air box, fairing, etc in short a rolling chassis with mounted (non-running) drive train for about 200 because it apparently caught fire. I would like to pull the engine and gear box and transplant it in my 1980 gs750et frame if I can get it running again. Problem is the 1100 is shaft drive and the 750 is chain drive ( I prefer the chain ) , so is there a conversion kit, or maybe a few interchangeable parts between the '84 1100GK and the '80 750ET that could facilitate this switch..........If not I'm buying it anyway and I'll just pirate the 1100 cams for the 750's bad ones....that and the gauge cluster... and anything else I can think of

Never heard of anyone converting one over.. I really don't think it could be done very easy.

That's what I was afraid of....well if I get bored I'll have to crack open that 1100 gearbox and see what (if anything) can be done to make it happen. If I figured it out, I'd have to market it because I've seen a few similar posts and none of them really got it figured out either.

How about converting the 750 to a shaft drive by transferring the 1100 drive train into the 750 frame. Probably easier than making the 1100 into a chain drive. Nothing wrong with shaft drive.

You would have to cut the 1100G frame off & graft it onto the 750. Not for the faint of heart
