hub broken
I hope many of you read my post on the hub crack behind the spline flange about a week or so ago. well I took the hub off my new wheel to clean it before oiling and putting it on bike. not to offend but has anyone really looked at the hub underneath there where the stem meets the main body. THIS ONE HAS A SMALL CRACK TOO! almost identical in look but obviously different. looks to me that it might be a factory pour nor weld situation. yes and it sure looks like a crack to me. Anyone changing splines right now that can clean off under there to take a look. I highly doubt it is just the two wheels in the world that a 16" that I know own? anyone seen this? If pics desired look at my other post on this . I am asuming that they are all like this and find it hard to believe no one else has seen it? And with that I assume it is safe.Tags: None

As I said in your other thread, that crack is not a safety issue and only affects the O-ring land. If it were my bike I'd slather the O-ring with heavy grease and go ride.Ed

Steve,
You linked this thread. The other thread is here... http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=147914
I'm going to back pedal on what I said. The crack on the O-ring flange is not dangerous but this other crack looks worse. Please inspect carefully.

that crack looks very similar to the "new" one I put on tonight. The one I put on tonight is straighter then that one but it is in almost exact location and both are all way around the hub. My new splines looked really good compared to old one. It was I assume a newer silver flange that came with the wheel.
I took it for a 10m minute spin after lubing up splines with moly and putting her back to gether. Seemed fine exept I think I need some carb adjusting taking to long to get a decent idle. try to post pics of new spline compared to old one sometime for anyone who wants to see it and maybe a thread with pic of bike and what I have done to the bike with the help of this site. What section should I post that in?

I'm no engineer but I would be real hesitant to ride my bike knowing my hub looked like that.
What happens if it lets loose at highway speeds?
