Tank fit question
As I delve further into my rusting tank, it's becoming obvious that even Caswell's stuff is going to be a short term repair. The rust is just too pervasive and I don't have much hope that I'm going to get even the majority of it out. I've been strongly advised against using an acid solution by my local body shop because the metal is already too thin in the lower seam area. So, I'm in the market for a tank to fit a '79 GS1000EN. I've found one on fleabay but it is for an '80 model. They look alike to my untrained eye, but does anyone know for sure if it will fit?

Thanks for the prompt reply. On the fiche at partshark it does indeed show a different petcock. It only has one hose connection shown on the fiche. Does the '80 model not use a vacuum connection? I noticed too that there is a huge difference in the petcock cost between a 1979 and 1980 model. The '80 is over $100 less expensive.

The '80 petcock does have a vacuum hookup. I bought a petcock from Z1 Enterprises and it appears to be identical to factory petcock, right down to the mfg logo cast into the body. Save some money and order from Z1.Ed
To measure is to know.
