    Horn not working

My horns on my 1980GS850G no longer work.
Do they go bad? I have voltage at the horns and
the ground from the switch is present when the
button is pushed. They did work when I
bought the bike three months ago. Havent
used the horn until two days ago when some one
pulled out in front of me. No honk. I gave that
    person the number one sign!!!

Easy to check, just take it off and get some wire and connect straight to the battery, if it works, clean the horn switch. If it doesn't go to a parts store and buy a new one. I just replaced both of mine recently and the price was like 10 dollars each, I also bought 2 diffferent kinds of horns so that the sounds are more noticable.

Thats tough to do when you need it. Spray the ever livin crap out of it with electrical contact cleaner. Pull that little screw out of the back and spray in there too.

Throw them all out and buy yourself a louder replacement. One of those Wolo Bad Boy's or equivalent.

I removed the horns from the bike and was able to get them to work by
banging them on the work bench. I did spray them with some contact
cleaner also. We will see how long they last.
