    1981 GS850 Speedometer

    Hey guys,

The speedometer needle keeps jumping like CRAZY. Took it apart and it seems everything is worn (also broke it in the process) so I need to grab a new one. Anyone know the cheapest speedo I can get, and what models and years I can use from other bikes? (For example a '79 GS550?) Any help is appreciated.

If you go to Alpha Sports or similar you can search the parts fishe for models of bikes with the same speedometer part number as your bike. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm The early 550/750/1000 would be worth a look.

Looks like all the part numbers I can find are obsolete.

Edit: Are all the GS ratio's 2240:60? So I could find an aftermarket one?

It doesn't matter if the parts are not available you just need to find out if any of the different models shared the same part. Once you figure it out hit ebay and root out what you need.
