    turning handlebars right opens throttle ! :S

    please help ! i checked the forum but cant find a answer..
    ive been bringing back to life a 78 gs750.. engine is running pretty sweet, but when a turning my bars to the right my revs go up ! could any one enlighten me as to what might be the problem ? thanks in advance.. tarky

    throttle cable adjustment. you need to back it off or re route it
    1978 GS1085.

        Yep... the adjuster just above the carbs or you have it hooked up under the tank somewhere.

          Throttle cable free play adjustment

          If I remember correctly, the Haynes manual adjustment spec is 0.2 inches free play, measured by pulling cable jacket up and away from adjuster at the carb end.

          Revs jumping when bars turned is a Bad Thing, adjust ASAP.

            I zip tied mine to the backbone of the bike and to the brake cable to keep it from moving around when It was doing that to me. It's just because it's moving around the cable inside the housing for it. keep the housing from moving and you're all set.

              I like zero play on my bike's throttle cable but my GS did the auto rev thing on tight right turns.

              I routed the cable to do a bigger arc as it goes back to the back bone of the frame.

              I have my zero play now w/out the fast right u-turns.

                Same here, like them pretty tight but to go that tight the cable routing has to be good, and you need to test it fairly often.

                      similar problem

                      don't mean to hijack a thread but I have something like this only with my choke cable. When I pull it out to start the bike, it won't stay in position, just falls off choke so I have to keep it pulled out manually until bike runs without choking. Any suggestions?
                      Again, sorry for hijacking a thread.
