    So I dropped my bike, now funny issues

    I was pulling into a parking space via a u-turn, and was going to quickly, bad angle, ended up dropping the bike on the right hand side.

    It was more of a gentle let down then a drop, no damage at all cosmetically, some gas leaked out the gas cap, no other visible damage. Ever since, she runs funny. Popping sounds from the exhaust on deceleration, rough idle, sometimes doesn't idle properly and dies.

    Any ideas on what might cause this?

    Hi Mr. satchmo,

    I'm sorry to hear about your little spill. The only thoughts I have are that the drop might have knocked some crud loose in your tank and it got sucked into the carbs. Have you checked all the hoses to make sure they are tight? Perhaps it will work itself out in time, especially if you use a generous amount of Sea Foam for a few tanks.

      Sounds like you stirred up something that would have been better left settled in the bottom of the tank.

        It might also be worth looking at the wiring in the right hand handlebar assembly to make sure you didn't cut/nick something.

        Try tapping on the float bowls with a screwdriver handle to make sure your floats aren't stuck.

          Tough luck on the tip-over. Hopefully the audience was small?
          I like looking for the easy fix first. Maybe the gas cap vent hole got crudded up with the spilling petrol.
          The jarring from even a low speed fall could be enough to misalign carb boots or airbox.

            Or crack old cab boots. But that would lean it out, and popping on decel is a rich condition, right?

              I like the gas cap vent diagnosis. I've had similar running symptons with a poorly venting cap.

              Take it off and see if it runs well stationary.
