    83 gs1100g r/r

    Good Morning
I have just returned from a 1500 mile tour and had to fill the battery each day.
When I got home I checked the stator and it was putting out 80 volts on all 3 legs.
The resistance reading on the r/r was 12 ohms on all three legs of it. The shop manual tells me that it is the r/r if the reading is not 7-8 ohms.
Where is the best place to purchase one?
    Thankyou in advance.

Most people are going with a honda r/r. Duaneage here on GSR is the person to contact.

I would put a multimeter on it at 4-5k rpm to see if your voltage just keeps climbing up over 16-17 volts, if it's boiling your battery over. If so, then check your wiring for the aftermath...melted connections, battery life may now be shortlived after cooking so long, headlight bulbs shortlived and soon burning out, etc....and I'll second the pitch for Duanage's r/r replacement.

I did measure the voltage at the battery at 5K and it registered around 17V.
I have sent a message to duanage and am waiting to hear back.
          Thanks

I must say, though, Congrats to you on checking your battery and adding water every day.

I'm afraid that most of us would have added water once, then ignored it for a while, thinking that it was OK.

Not sure how you are measuring that 12 ohms on the r/r, but also be sure to check all of your electrical connections for the r/r to make sure they are clean and tight. Undercharging is typical of poor connections, so your overcharging is probably a bad r/r. I will second (or is that third by now) the suggestion to contact Duaneage for a replacement unit.
