ND Ignitor Box
Has anyone ever sealed their ND ignitor box to make it water-tight? The unit is anything but water tight and its location makes it suceptible to getting water and debris in it.Tags: None

I think the ignitor changed over the years. Matchless is our resident expert so you might want to drop him a PM.Ed

I don’t doubt that some of the ignitors are potted and others are not. Suzuki, or ND maybe, changed the part several times that I’m aware. I parted out a 1981 1000GL and the ignitor looks different from the one on my ST even though they fall into the same supercession chain.

different boxes
I've seen several that were just a metal box with the circuit board inside. Others that were an eposy sealed package. And of course there are variations based on the 2 wire or 4 wire design for electronic advance.
As for sealing; I'd guess that you're better off with the way Suzuki made it. If water can get in it can get out. If you seal it and some moisture is trapped in there it's going to stay.
