where is the ground on the starter relay???

My start button does not work(to start the bike, but i do read voltage on the Y/G wire at the relay).

I was just on Basscliff's site and see that evry diagram shows the starter relay being grounded. I only have 3 wires on mine, and just got a newer one in and has only three wires.

So how is it grounded??? by being mounted??? or am I missing somthing??

Any help would be appriciated since I dont want to jump it anymore.

Its gets its ground thru the case so yes the mounting bolt. The starter buttons get dirty just take it apart and shine things up with some steel wool if the spring needs replacing just use 1 from an old ball point pen and cut to length.

The solenoid grounds through it's mounting bolts, but it is mounted to the airbox, which needs to be grounded? The airbox is rubber mounted, and only grounded by some small ground wires?
Make sure the airbox has a good ground.

I just screwed this up on a 650 last week, had the ground wires wrong, the solenoid case was hot all the time. Doh!

Well I have no air box, just the fuse panel, so I will ground that, and maybe it will solve my dilema.

          Give it a good ground!

I had the not starting problem where the starter would turn over when I shorted acress the poles of the starter relay and B+ at the yellow/green wire and I simply connected a short wire from the mount--which is a POOR ground--to the main Engine ground and all of a sudden the switch worked.

          Might try that
