    Fork Stanchion Tube Repair

One stanchion tube on my GS needs to have the nicks removed. Eating up seals...I thought that I had done a good job a few months ago. Guess not. What seems to work best in removing the seal-eaters? Thanks in advance.

Get a good smooth used one.

    You need 35 or 37mm?

U might also have luck using a buffing wheel and Rouche. Keep silicone on the stanchion to keep it from rusting further.

If they are too deep fill them with JB Weld and sand till smooth.

To get the raised areas around the nicks, would emory cloth work and then a thourough buffing?

Do it properly . You can get them straightened , ground and hard chromed for cheap, cheap and you'll never touch them again.Your local bike shop will be able to tell you who does it locally.Any other fix is bodgy and will fail again.Cheers,Simon.

You can take the sharp edges off with 2000 grit wet & dry wrapped round the tube.

Best thing to do if you can afford it is to get replacement legs, either good secondhand or look here:
