Brake line upgrade on GS400

Still have rubber brake lines on my GS and I'm going to change them to braided stainless soon. The stock lines are in two sections: Brake lever/cylinder to a fitting on the front forks (about 1 foot). Then a bunch of hardware (banjo bolts, washers, etc). Then brake line from the fittings to the calipers (about 2 or 3 feet). Any reason for all this extra hardware in the middle other than to keep things tidy and fastened to the fork? Could I just replace it with a single length of brake line? The engineers a Suzuki were (and still are) pretty smart cookies but I question why they did this.

A one piece line is preferred. I’m sure the Suzuki engineers must have had their reasoning for doing what they did, but in this case the answer appears to involves more than pure function.

For the brake line I suggest using Earl’s parts. It’s the cheapest way to make a stainless line and the bolt-on hose ends are very secure – more so than the crimp on alternates according to the owner at AN Plumbing. http://www.anplumbing.com
