    CC Tensioner, 700E

This is sort of a continuation question from this thread:

This forum contains old posts which may have information which may be useful. It is a closed forum in that you can not post here any longer. Please post your questions in the other technical forums.

but a simple one - if the knurled knob is stuck after the engine runs, how bad of a thing is that? It breaks loose with pliers fairly easily, but can't be moved easily by hand after the engine runs again.

If it's stuck, it can't do its job.

Fix the tensioner now or fix the engine later.

HINT: fixing the tensioner is a LOT cheaper.

Is the set screw backed out properly and the lock nut set? If so, sounds like you have some burrs on the internal parts. It's pretty easy to take the unit apart and deal with issues like this.

I reset the setscrew, but I had to turn it in too much before it was all the way in, I thought. I backed it out 1/4 turn and retightened the locknut.

Something's not right, but it seems to be applying tension. I agree I'm gonna have to take it off.

Quite often the ramped part of the pushrod develops dents. I've simply sanded these flat with sandpaper, or you can buy a new pushrod for most models.
