O-rings

I seen it, did a search, did another one and can't seem to find the link.

Somewhere in a carb rebuilding thread someone posted a site to buy orings from. Could that person or another point me in the right direction to buy oring kits? Do they sell bulk assorted?

Im working on a set of carbs from an 82 CB900f Metal piston, fuel cut-off valves, and accelerator pump, full of orings.. Arg Honda wants $58 for each carb.

This is the only one I know of, but I think he only carries items for Mikunis. Honda used Keihins as well as Mikunis. Anyway he may be able to help you.

Phoenix is a big city, I bet there is a specialty O ring place there. Nothing but O rings, all shapes and sizes. The O Ring King. Wizard of O. The Oracle of O. It's worth a look.

Before I started to rebuild my Keihin carbs, I asked robert if he sold kits for the Keihin cv34's. Unfortunately, he did not. However, mcmaster carr sells an assorted metric o-ring kit that was very useful when I rebuilt the carbs. The o-rings are made of the same material as his kits so they are compatible with gas and oil.

I assembled my own O-ring kits with parts from McMaster-Carr. They sell all different sizes, both metric and dash sizes, and different materials as well. If you measure the parts, or the old O-rings, and then lookup the O-ring you need in the index you can usually find something that will work for your application. When sizing the O-rings I’ve found that about 1mm of stretch on the ID is about right; if the shaft size is 9 mm you want an 8 mm ID O-ring. Similarly, you want about 1 mm of compression on the O-ring from the OD, and don’t forget that the OD will grow when it’s stretched over the ID. They sell assortments kits as well but I doubt you will find all the O-rings you need in one of these kits, plus you will have a ton of excess O-rings you will never use.

Robert Barr uses Buna-N O-rings for his carb kits, which seem to hold up fine, but viton O-rings, which are more chemical resistant, can be ordered as well. I have some VM29 kits with Buna-N O-rings and regular VM/BS Mikuni carb kits with viton O-rings. The viton parts are more expensive but not too bad if you don’t need hundreds at a time.
