Engine Compatability
Anyone know if a 1980 GS1000 engine will fit into a 1979 GS1000 frame? I would assume so, but cannot find any information as to yes or no.

Yep - bolt straight in. Just make sure that the 80 motor isn't for a shaft drive (G) model). The 80 head is different for the later CV carbs so you'd have to swap them / airbox etc as well (or swap heads - they are the same otherwise).79 GS1000S
79 GS1000S (another one)
80 GSX750
80 GS550
80 CB650 cafe racer
75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father
