bolt in oil pan dripping???

Replaced the oil pan on my 1100 and installed a new gasket and now I have oil dripping from some of the bolts. Its not a bad constant drip but it gets on the exaust and causes it to smoke. I used some sealant on the gasket ( sparringly) so why would thes bolts be dripping oil?

Maybe need to use thread sealer (permatex) on the bolt threads or perhaps a copper washer under the heads?

Put a little dab of RTV on the bolt threads and reinstall them.

Welcome to the club .

OEM gaskets are softer than most so they conform better to irregularities.

I have also been using a fine flat file to insure flatness. If you dont keep it clean it will clog and scratch the machined surfaces. Practice makes perfect but work across the edges to ensure you keep it flat. Do a mild test scratch to see where your high spots are; you might be surprised.
