Carb hoses -- whats what?

Ok I am fitting pod filters, and dont know whats what here. I know one should be vent, and one should be vacuum? Which ones do I plug off, and which ones do I throw towards the back of the bike? I also changed to a single port (non-vacuum..?) petcock.

Thanks, I went through those, but my hoses dont seem to line up with what he is calling out there at all... Was hoping I could come across someone who has worked with the same setup.

Would also help if you put a carriage return (the ENTER key) between each of your photos so they don't all run together.

It appears that in your first photo, you are pointing to the vent hose on #4 carb. It also vents #3. There should be a similar one on #2 that also vents #1. It is said that if you are running pods, you remove the rubber hoses from the vent Ts and just point the Ts so they don't collect water.

In your second and third photos, you appear to be pointing to the overflow hose. There should be one of those on every carb. Route them all so they don't point to an exhaust pipe or the rear tire.

On your VM carbs, there should be a vacuum port on the engine side of #3 carb. Remember, they are numbered left-to-right as you are sitting on the bike. #1 is under your clutch hand, #4 is under your throttle hand. Since you are not using a vacuum-operated petcock (why not?) you need to plug that port. You can get vacuum caps from Auto Zone or other auto parts stores.

You will also need to route your breather hose from the top of the valve cover. Some will run that into a small catch can to catch any vapor that condenses, others will use a small filter that looks like a mini-pod, others will simply run it down the back of the engine to let the rushing air draw the vapors out of the crankcase. That is the way that cars used to do it, until the arrival of the PCV systems that sucked the vapors through the intake system and burned them.

I see from your VM carbs that you have a '79 or older Suzuki GS but other than that we don't know what kind of bike you have.
