Thanks
I would like to thank everyone who has posted questions on this forum thereby saving me from doing the same and repeating the same things again. I have been able to solve a seemingly unsolvable problem through thorough research of previous posts and most importantly with the use of BikeCliffs amazing website and links. After spending a bunch of money on having my carbs rebuilt, I discovered that not all experts are detail orientated. I folled the detailed instructions available here and the old girl runs as good as new. Simply amazing. I am no longer afraid to remove and disassemble/reassemble my carbs. Again, thanks to everyone who posts here. My bike is a 1981 GS550T with 16000 miles and sat in storage since 1996. I am now into this "free" bike around 500 bucks and just tickled with it.Tags: None

I wasn't clear on how to post my pics, so it seems to be in "my albums". I was hoping to have them on my posts but there it is. Thanks for the welcome although I have been a lurker for some time. The knowledge and insights through others trial and error are truly a time and money saver. I am a devoted member of this website and truly am gratefull for all who chose to help out others with thier stories, tech and common sense advice. I owned my first GS before the internet was invented and really wish I had it now. It was a GS1100 with bags, trunk, boards, lights and you name it. Made my neighbors Goldwing look a a kids imitatation of a road bike. If I had access to the info here I would have it still. My GS550 is alive and well today thanks to ALL of you who have asked the questions and done the work. If I can help someone else in some small way,I would be honored. Who rebuilt my carbs answer: A friend who has years of mechanical experience with bikes of all kinds. Builds alchol burning snomobiles (sleds) for a sideline and obviously can make mistakes. Damn!
