What he said.
I have one on my bike, which is the same as yours.
Just need to remember to turn it off when you parking your bike for a while....

I eat too many damn beans being this close to Mexico.
That's Pingles logo "Pass more gas"
That's why all the drag racers use them. May be overkill for a stock bike but the guy asked for the info and I obliged.

One reason I see often for "needing" a Pingle is the classic "starves at wide-open throttle" situation.
I am wondering if it's simply a lack of vacuum to keep the stock petcock open, rather than a size limitation.

The ex got mad at me when I mentioned she had a lack of vacuum, so she stated I had a size limitation...
Anyway, back on topic........ Wouldn't the easiest way to get around having a lack of vacuum to operate the vacuum petcock properly, to just replace it with a manual one?

.
Something is clogged, kinked, or otherwise messed up somewhere if it won't.
A stock petcock working correctly will empty a tank in about four minutes.
Something like sixty to eighty gallons per hour.
That's enough fuel.
I wonder if this problem is lack of vacuum on bikes that have had the airbox removed?Last edited by tkent02; 11-03-2009, 08:03 AM.

Tony.
At idle, the only thing keeping the engine from running faster is more fuel/air, and the only real thing keeping it from getting more fuel is you restricting the air flow, thus... high vacuum.
I ran down the 1/4 a few times on my old gas tank which had way too much rusty bits in it, and found that just having the thing running that hard would suck the fuel bowls mostly dry by the end, and my plugged up fuel outlet had hell trying to give me enough fuel to get back to the pits. I was in the 'prime' position, mostly because the vacuum diaphragm was shot.
A clean fuel tank, with the petcock on 'prime' (man, I think all the stock ones must be shot by now...), had no problems all day long keeping me fueled down the quarter.
I'm going to get this Pingel petcock this winter, but man... pricey for a little valve.

Some of the later SOHC Honda 4s were notorious for having a fuel tap that couldn't flow enough petrol for sustained WOT. For example, I had a 550F2 that started to splutter maybe 1/2 a mile down our local 'flat out' straight.
Never had the same problem on a stock Suzuki (though that slotted fuel tap is a real POS, especially the way the prime functions.)79 GS1000S
