It took me 5 seasons to get it too. The secret, as stated, is to get both feet of the stand down on the concrete. That means you have to push the bikeaway from your body which is contrary to what you think you should do. I was always afraid the bike would get away from me and go over to the right.

Once the feet are both down it is a snap.with right foot on the stand and right hand on the frame or handle straighten up your body...the bike will pop up.

Now a harder project is lifting it up off the ground if it does go over But that's a lesson for another day.

There are lots of good vids on you tube that will help so have a look.

      Cheers,

sorry to resurrect a dead thread but seeing some other posts about this subject reminded me that I should post here.

After a bit of practice I can get the 850 up with ease.

        Thanks for the help guys

by the way my 650 will practically JUMP onto the center stand

I admit to having a problem with my GPz750 trying to leap into the ceiling b/c the engine is not fully installed...
But seriously, the worst part of this is allowing the bike to lean away from you. Once you allow that to happen, getting the bike on the centerstand is relatively easy. The only hard part is if someone is watching you. Then it becomes about 10x more difficult. Just a fact of life, kind of like making love...wait, oh, never mind...
