Nice looking bike. I bought my 79 GS750 a year and a half ago in what appeared to be prety good shape, and have commuted on it almost everyday since then. A great all rounder and with upgraded suspension a nice handling, responsive and very well designed bike. But ownership requires a fair bit more than just being the highest bidder on ebay.
I have almost gone mad a number of times since then and have spent many hours and a few dollars both upgrading, tuning and just keeping it running.
Everything these guys are saying is true and just when you think you have it all sorted and you'll get a few thousand trouble free kms before your next major service, you turn the key and its dead, or it only fires on three cylinders, or it starts smoking, or leaking or just driving you nuts!
It is a nice looking bike though...1979 GS750E

About all I can do now to help him is take it off his hands.
If it has good compression and dont knock, it will run, correctly.
Auburn wouldnt be a bad drive for me either!sigpic

I have bought a few old bikes with good luck.but they all needed a little work, but if you dont have a lot of money (like me) than you might not be able to get something more recent, a newer bike might be a p.o.s. also, If it runs good and charging checks out no oil leaking all over place, motor not making a bunch of noise, check tires, brake
