    gs550L front sprocket interchangeability??

Hi guys, this is my first post so go easy on me

I've got an 82 gs550l that I want to run a 520 chain to be able to run some newer wheels. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anyone that has a front sprocket for my bike that will change it from 530 to 520. I should say they don't list one specifically for my bike, they do for other gs550's. Do I have an odd duck or do all gs550's have the same sprocket. Thanks for the great board and all the help, I've been lurking for a while

All '77 - '82 550's take the same front sprocket spline type. If you go to JT Sprocket's web site I'm pretty sure you should be able to cross reference from there.

    To measure is to know.

Between the Vortex site and JT site you should be able to find what you need. Most all GS and GSXR models have the same spline dimensions. On the rear just check the dimensions on the JT site between your model and the GSXR models. Some of the Gixxers use 5 bolts on the rear and some 6. You'll need to watch the center hole diameter and the bolt spacing.

You're right pretty much all gs550's have the same front sprocket. Thanks for all the help
