gs650 high idle problem
I'm chopping a 82 gs 650glz and just finished the carb rebuild but now the bike idles at 12,000. I tried adjusting to the top screw but it didn't work. I'm just a little lost. I think i need to adjust the air screw or air jet(whatever you want to call it) at least that's what the manual says i have to do but the manual sucks and isn't very descriptive.Tags: None

12,000 rpm idle? Sounds like you got a hunk of weld splatter from the oxygen lance on the throttle linkage.Ed
To measure is to know.

12,000 rpm is a tad beyond redline on these engines...........Does it have an airbox, pods, or what? If it's sucking a lot of air, really lean will cause the idle to go up and up.............

They have "ON", "PRI", and "RES", sometimes only first two. If the fuel flow doesn't stop without vacuum applied, you've either got the petcock in the "PRI" position or you've got a leaky petcock.

sorry meant petcock not peacock (really spaced on that one). so the vacuum pressure stops the gas form constantly running?
