    Fork problems

Okay i pulled the forks down a bit on my 82 650gl to remove the reflectors and bend straight one of the head light mounts. The left side slide back in place fine but the right side stops just after entering the top bracket and won't go up the rest of the way no matter what i try. Please help!!

not the best pic but you can see that it stops just under the bracket

Try twisting the stantion tube while pulling it up. A little oil on the triple clamps won't hurt either.

        Hi,

I used a big flat screwdriver as a wedge to open up the clamp a little more. Makes it easier to get the tubes in and out.

            Hi,

You have to make sure everything is lined up properly. It really shouldn't be a big deal. Keep us informed.

could one of the bottom clamps be bent just ever so slightly that it acts as a pole climbers gear(the kind used to climb telephone poles if that makes is any clearer) and does not let the tube move up because it binds?
im sorry if you have to sit there and decipher what im saying

                  Oops.

Sorry, I had assumed the tire was off already. It's a lot easier to manipulate the fork tubes without the heavy tire and wheel attached.

Glad you got it worked out.
