Yeah, we're not kidding: these carbs need some vacuum behind them to lift the slides out of the way.

I'm surprised it moves at all.
Please put the airbox on (with fully sealed filter element and side panels) so you can amaze yourself.Originally posted by old_chopper View PostMust have some type of restriction on the air box side. ... it need the restriction to create the vacuum to raise the slides which delivers more fuel. No restriction = no extra fuel = lean.Originally posted by xxspikexx View Postwow you were not kidding i ... threw the airbox on which i sealed with weather stripping. and wow a rough start but once it did and warmed up, no popping!! so i took it out of the garage and wow THE POWER!!! i need new intake boots they are firm in spots. i already orderd a new filter but wow.. i was in tears when i shifted into second when back home with my hands shaking..Originally posted by Don-lo View PostYeah, we're not kidding: these carbs need some vacuum behind them to lift the slides out of the way.

Yeah, Steve, the misleading assumption is that all carbs are alike (like that Bayer commercial long ago, "All aspirin is the same"). Now it's spike's turn to convince people that open CV carbs are not the hot ticket.

Many times, experience comes from bad judgement.

the airbox boots arent too hard i read somewhere on here about boiling them with simple green and that sounds like it would put life into them again and save me 48$ im going to ask for a valve cover gasket for christmas from my bro..

well i bought the new box boots and ya the bike came with the wrong ones look like there from a kawa. new breather and valve cover gaskets, new breather hose the old one cracked when installing the new gaskets it was old and it was cold out.. starts up quicker than b4 and so far when i took it for a test ride there was no lag when i twisted just power.. still a little tweaking here or there but thanks again guys/gals its finally road worthy
