Case sealant question..
Soon I will be re-assembling the lower half of the 77 750 engine..my question is what sealant do you all use for the case halves?..I cant for the life of me remember what we used years ago when i worked at the Kawi dealership..the only thing i can think of is at the shop we use an anerobic sealant made by detroit diesel for the flywheel housings that mount to the block..wich is aluminum flywheel housing onto machined block no gasket..in essence the sealant seals under pressure and lack of oxygen..not knowing if that would work thought i'd ask what you all use..Thanks..learning alot reading through the forums..great resource!

NICK!
All of the manufacturers have their own flavor of case bond. If I were putting an engine together today and since I'm certain all my Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha bond tubes are trash by now I'd try to get a fresh tube of Suzuki Bond (my favorite and in my opinion the easiest to use) then if I couldn't get that I'd try for Yama Bond (4?? or was it 5?? theres more than one kind and I think 4 was for cases) if all else failed I'd get a tube of Kawasaki Bond, my least favorite.
Be aware that some comes in black and some is gray so try and get the appropriate one for the color of your engine least you have an unsightly line running around the case.
Also, since my last dealership stint was in 1997 these products may have changed by now.
I would not recommend using some automotive off the rack product, if you consider the amount of work it would be to re-bond the case if the product you picked didn't work out then I'm sure you'll go get the real thing.
Hope this helps.

Threebond 1194 is the stuff as Brian linked. Threebond makes all the Yamabond/Suzukibond/Hondabond sealers.Ed

But yeah, I did three engines with one tube and there was still plenty left inside to make a helluva mess. I think I was able to find a pocket of still-liquid sealer in the mess, poke a hole, and do a fourth engine.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

On tube is more than enough. Even in the dealership I don't think I ever completely used up a tube before the rest of it went hard.
