    GS550MZ Exhaust

I have a 1982GS550M Katana. It is equipped with a Kerker 4 into 1 exhaust. Although it improves performance I would prefer the original 2 into 1 black pipes. Are there any other bikes that used exactly the same exhaust system originally as mine? If so I will have a broader fiels to look for a mint set of originals.
    Thanks

Those are kind of hard to find - but they are out there! Where are you living? I recommend finding the closest motorcycle salvage yard and if they don't have it, connect to other salvage yards outward from there. There might be a set in a salvage yard near me in New Hampshire (I think it's Coopers) - I saw them cutting a 550 Katana up into scrap

"Mint" might be hard to find, but original, you can probably get lucky. What do you think is a fair price? At this place in NH, I bought a really nice set of 82/83 1100 E/ES pipes for $300. Not perfect, but pretty darn close (that was 2 years ago). I would imagine a 550 4 into 2 would be a little less, but how much less? Couldn't say.

I recall the 82's are black chrome, but are the collars silver or black? There was only one other street model in 82 to come with black chrome pipes - 1000SZ (which has silver collars) 83 550 E and ES's had black 4 into 2 which will surely line up at the heads, but would likely need some creative bracket work in the rear. They probably come with black collars in 83 too. But, you'd be pretty close to stock if that would work.

Those pipes won't fit on an '82.

A couple of years ago I bought a NOS 4 into 2 set for my 550 Katana from here -: http://www.govnorsbridge.co.uk
Cost me about £200, don't know if he's got any left but must be worth an email.

Thanks to all that have replied. I am in the persuit of a set that reportedly were removed from a bike that was parted out last year. No one answered if there were exhausts from other models/years that were the same as the 1982 GS550mz. Does anyone know?
