stator studs broken off
i was replacing the stator on my 80 gs 750 when i broke the studs off flush inside the cover, i did a search on screw extractions and found nothing on how to remove a bolt broken off flush, this is a 6mm screw and like i said they are broken flush with the case, HELPTags: None

the bolt is broke in the cases,or under the stater cover?
take the stater off and remove it from whats left sticking out
if theres nothing left, you can weld a nut or washer to it/ then a nut to the washer, then back it out, this works well

If they are broken off flush in the case, get a set of left-handed/reverse drill bits. The flutes on the bit are cut in reverse of a regular bit. The trick is to start the bit perfectly centered on the broken bolt. Do your best to keep the drill straight and do not bugger up the threads in the case.
Soak the offending broken bolts with PB Blaster for a few days first.Larry D

This type of screw extractor seems to work better than any I have seen before. Make sure you soak the broken screw down with a quality penetrating oil.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ima...&n=228013&s=hihttp://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Hi,
Maybe this will help:

Thank you for your indulgence,

I think he's talking about the bolts that hold the stator in the stator cover. Extraction is a possibility but it might be simpler to find another cover. Heck I may have a spare somewhere. Or you can ask around or check eBay. They're pretty common.
