I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

What do you mean by after market forks? There are several different after market springs available, what are you trying to accomplish exactly?

They only make the tubes not complete forks

well if he has the lowers and the tubes are all rusted then he is in business. I would suspect that any moment now someone will tell him which ones from different bikes will fit and even offer some for sale

not exactly sure what Im after lol. Just thinking of something different than what I have on now. I had seen a custom cafe bike with gold forks (not the tubes) and it looked badass, Just was looking for something different. My tubes are pitted causing the oil to leak so I thought if I am going to go through the trouble of tearing them apart it might be worth while to do something different.

And as I discovered they don't make all diameters.

NOW you've opened a can of worms. I am in the middle of a fork conversion myself. It requires mods and fabrication. ranging from a little, to a whole bunch. Do a search, 100 threads on it.

thats what I was looking for, I figured as much. I see the overall look in my mind but wasnt sure what was involved. Let me know how it turns out for you. If I get some ideas and some leads Ill throw them your way. Thought it would be as easy as taking the old off and putting the new on. LOL but that would be easy.

A few things bolt right on (including RF900 forks on mine), some GSXR models, etc..., but you need the whole shebang, forks and triple trees, and maybe wheel. THEN, you mave have to grind on the steering lock or steering stops, your old instument cluster may not mount, or may need mounts fabricated, you may need spacers on the axle, yoiu may change ground clearance, your steering geometry may change, etc... etc....

Thanks for the insight, more work than I think I want to get into. Little bit of paint and some polishing sounds more in my ball park. One thing I find working on these bikes is that they can end up being a money pit. I picked my bike up for 750 bucks and invested about $1000. There is alot of things I want to do just not sure if some of them are practical or economical. I appreciate your time thanks man. Like I said if I find out anything else that might be of use to you, Ill drop you a line. Good luck on your project.

As far as aftermarket bolt ups. Pretty tough for year specific, but there are customs out there.

Most reasonable is to adapt when it comes to cost.

Don't know how others feel about articles from Webbike World, but interesting links none the less.
